Ireland South MEP Sean Kelly showed his support for the ‘See Change’ programme at Electric Picnic last Saturday. See Change is Ireland’s national programme working to change minds about mental health problems.
Speaking at the Electric Picnic festival in Co Laois, Mr Kelly said: “It is time to ‘see change’ in Ireland and in Irish attitudes towards mental health.
“We need to be more open as a people and more communicative with each other, seeking help and advice when needed. Irish men especially need to open up. Seeking help and talking to a friend or counsellor during difficult times is an extremely courageous thing to do.
“I want to congratulate the See Change programme for helping to educate Ireland on the importance of mental health,” Mr Kelly added.
The Fine Gael MEP was in Co Laois as a guest speaker during a special Irish language panel debate on EU issues at the festival’s Irish stage on Saturday.
