Ireland South MEP Seán Kelly has welcomed a recent announcement by Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Katherine Zappone of a €100,000 grant scheme that will make services across the country more accessible to LGBTI+ young people.

“This funding is part of the world’s first LGBTI+ National Youth Strategy. Irish citizens want our country to provide a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for young people, and these funds will contribute significantly to achieving this,” the Fine Gael MEP said.

“I would encourage all organisations working with youths to apply with any related projects being delivered in 2018. The funds will allow for evidence-based training, mentoring, coaching, Continuous Professional Development (CPD) initiatives and development of guidelines targeted at professional service providers and youth services.

“I am proud that Ireland is spearheading this initiative which will make a significant and positive difference to the lives of our young people,” said Mr. Kelly.

The deadline for submissions is 12 noon on 26th September. Further information on how to apply can be found via the Department of Children and Youth Affairs at [email protected].
