Seán Kelly MEP is bringing EU funding experts to Limerick for a special event aiming to mobilise investment for Irish businesses taking place this Friday (28th April). The Ireland South MEP will be joined by Cormac Murphy, Head of the European Investment Bank office in Dublin and European Commission DG ECFIN spokesperson Vassil Georgiev in outlining what funding is available to Irish businesses and how best to seek out such opportunities.

“Ireland has experienced strong economic growth in the past few years, however certain political development, particularly Brexit, are set to have a profound impact on our economy. For this reason, it is crucial that we seek to mobilise the investment that can help to shield us against the potential negative effects of the UK’s decision. This meeting is an opportunity to lay the groundwork for this process providing insights into the investment opportunities available and how businesses can seek them out,” Mr Kelly said in Brussels this week.

Cormac Murphy, Head of the European Investment Bank office in Dublin will provide an overview of funding available from the European Investment Bank, projects that are eligible, conditions for funding, proportion of projects costs available as loans, and the role of public private partnerships. Vassil Georgiev, of DG ECFIN at the European Commission will discuss the EU Investment Fund with examples of projects funded to date, how the funds are channelled to Member States, and which organisations in Ireland are processing applications. Later, Pat Daly, Interim CEO, Limerick 2030 will update attendees on the latest plans and existing projects under Limerick 2030.

Local business people and public representatives will be in attendance.
