Ireland South MEP, Seán Kelly, is inviting local primary school teachers to join him at a special celebration of teachers and the Blue Star EU educational programme at Mary Immaculate College, Limerick on April 8th.

Last year, teachers of the Blue Star Programme in Ireland were awarded the European Citizens Prize, following a nomination by MEP Kelly for their achievements under the scheme. MEP Kelly will host the Limerick reception on April 8th to celebrate those teachers who help educate primary school children on the EU, its institutions and role.

“In nominating our primary school teachers, I wanted to see their tireless hard work recognised the positive impact of their work with children to be highlighted and I also wanted to raise awareness of such a worthwhile initiative,” Mr Kelly said.

All local primary school teachers are invited to attend this unique celebration of the Blue Star programme at Mary Immaculate College, South Circular Road, Limerick on April 8th, from 12 noon until 3pm.

The Blue Star programme is an initiative coordinated with the support of European Movement Ireland through the Communicating Europe Initiative. It provides primary school pupils with an understanding of the Institutions of the EU through its history, geography, culture and creativity.

The event will include presentations from Pamela Ronan of Mungret Educate Together School, who successfully completed the programme. European Movement Ireland will offer advice on the Blue Star Programme, followed by an open discussion on the programme and a presentation of certificates to teachers who have taken part in the programme.
