Ireland South MEP and Fine Gael leader in the European Parliament, Sean Kelly, has wished Deirdre Clune the best of luck today (Wednesday), on behalf of the Fine Gael delegation in the European Parliament, ahead of the conclusion of the Ireland South European election count.

Speaking from Brussels, Mr. Kelly made the following statement:

“On behalf of our delegation here in the European Parliament, I would like to wish our colleague Deirdre Clune the very best of luck for the last stages of the Ireland South count this morning, and give our apologies that we cannot be with her in Cork for the announcement, due to the important votes today on the President and Vice Presidents of the EPP Group.

“Deirdre has been an excellent MEP for Ireland over the last five years and has worked extremely hard to keep Irish interests to the fore, particularly on issues such as transport, tourism, employment and consumer protection. We look forward to welcoming her back to the European Parliament and re-joining what will soon be a five-member Fine Gael delegation”.
