Mr Kelly’s key priorities include agriculture and jobs, growth and innovation, for his next term of office: “I have worked to ensure the Irish family farm model is protected under the new CAP. As an MEP, I have successfully fought for the elimination of sugar quotas and milk quotas, ensuring a bright future for Irish agriculture.

“I was honoured to be named MEP of the Year in 2012 for my work in promoting the interests of Irish businesses, especially SMEs and educational institutions in Europe.

“Again, this year I was awarded MEP of the Year for the Digital Agenda, having authored key future European policies on Data Protection (regulations guarding privacy online). I have focused on raising awareness of the problem of cyber bullying and campaigned to introduce new measures to help young people, educate internet users against cyber bullying and prevent it happening in Ireland and at EU level.”

Mr Kelly, a former GAA President, also played a central role in developing the EU’s first ever sports funding programme valued at over €300 million to benefit all sports across Europe. He is a keen promoter of a competitive, sustainable and secure energy supply for Irish consumers and businesses.
